Rema Webb

REMA WEBB is currently appearing as the character Crystal in Alicia Keys’ new Broadway musical called Hell’s Kitchen at the Shubert Theatre. Additional Broadway credits include Fat Ham, The Music Man (Mrs. Squires, Eulalie us), Escape to Margaritaville (Marley), The Color Purple (Church Lady, u/s Shug), Violet (Lula Buffington/ Almeta), The Book of Mormon (Mrs. Brown), The Lion King (Ensemble, u/s Rafiki, Shenzi, Nala), Ragtime (Ensemble, u/s Sarah). 

 

Off Broadway/ Regional credits include: Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Unmasked, Hercules, Little Shop of Horrors, The Cradle Will Rock, You're Standing IN My Way, The Colored Museum, A New Brain at Encores!, Being Alive, Company, and Avenue X.Film/ TV credits include: Central Park, Murphy Brown, The Sound of Music Live!, Beloved, A Promise Kept, and Sudden Death.

 

Oratorio Works include: Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Faure Requiem, Mozart's Requiem in D Minor (Heinz Chapel Choir).Ms. Webb has been performing professionally since the age of 15 with the Civic Light Opera Mini Stars. Rema received her BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences, with a concentration in Vocal Performance and a Minor in Italian from the University of Pittsburgh. During her time at the University of Pittsburgh, Rema studied Classical Voice as a Lyric Soprano abroad at the EPCASO program located in Oderzo, Italy. She was a diligent student of Claudia Pinza for 10 years. Her early Musical Theatre education began at the age 6 at Ruby Daugherty School of Dance in Pittsburgh, PA. She continued to study in other Performing Arts Training Programs throughout high school including the Mt Lebanon Center for the Arts.

 

Rema's passion for teaching began in 1987. She was employed at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Academy as a Voice and Diction Instructor. She has served as Musical Director at Philadelphia’s Freedom Theatre Performing Arts Training Program Summer Camps, in which 1000 children were under her tutelage. She also instructed Music and Theatre classes at Friends Central Summer Camp in Philadelphia. This lead to Rema founding On Broadway Performing Arts Training Program in Harlem, NY. She currently serves as Executive Director and strives to create a place where any young person can come and have a one-of-a-kind musical theater education.
